How to Identify Mouse Droppings
Mouse droppings are small, usually the size of a grain of rice and a dark brown or black.
In your living areas look along the walls, especially behind furniture and under appliances.

Underneath the stove is usually a good spot to look for mouse droppings- it's a good hiding spot and close to a great food source for them.
In your basement, check along the walls but also get a ladder and check high up on the sills- another place mice love to run along.
If your not seeing any droppings in the attic, lift up some insulation and look under it, especially near lights.
What to Do About Mouse Droppings
If you want to show a pest management professional the droppings, take a good quality picture of them, and then clean them up.
Make sure to clean the droppings up safely not to risk any illness following the instructions for safe rodent clean up at: https://www.cdc.gov/healthy-pets/rodent-control/clean-up.html
Cleaning the droppings has multiple benefits:
Sanitation: Rodent droppings can carry pathogens that can cause disease in humans, it is very important to clean them up to not accidently spread these pathogens.
Monitoring: Mouse droppings are one of the best ways to guage your problem. Look at the area daily after you clean it. If mouse droppings continue to show up, you know it is an active area for the mice.
Deterence: Mice rely heavily on odor, the smell of their urine and odor make them feel safe and protected. Cleaning up the area can help break up that scent and make them less likely to return there.
